The Afghan National Army won’t fight the Taliban unless the US and NATO have boots-on-the-ground.
With 300,000 highly trained soldiers equipped with modern weapons and fighter jets supplied by America, one may assume the Army would cut thru Taliban like scissor to paper.
But that’s not the case because the people are not united as a country. In simple terminolgy the leaders are worthless, only looking out for their pockets and the pockets of tribe members, regions and religious sects. The people understand government officials mindset. The U.S. would have to be in charge of the government to bring Democracy to Afghanistan. We brought development and relative peace in 20 years since entering, seeking Al Quaeda after 9/11. But we wound up fighting the Taliban.
If the U.S. were running the government you would get violent reactions from Muslim Countries like Turkey, Pakistan and Iran crying out “the Crusaders are taking over Afghanistan like the British gave Palestine to Israel.” Several Gulf countries would secretly supply big money to oust the American Government, just like they contributed to the downfall of Russia who exit the country in 1989 after 1979 invasion.
America helped rid the Russians also, and Russia would definitely assist the Taliban, especially with Logistics, but China for the most part will stay clear of Logistics, money or boots-on-the-ground because they want to remain neutral to engage in commerce after the U.S. and everyone else are gone.
The Chinese are looking to conduct Trade; in Energy, Transport, telecommunications and and all forms of Infrastructure; like they are conducting in Pakistan, and would be glad to see America leave the region.
Will Turkey, Iran and Pakistan team up to defeat the Taliban? Don’t bet on it, because they have bundles of enemies in the Muslim world. Egypt, Emirates and Saudi Arabia just to name a few would certainly supply financial and moral support to defeat the trio. Lest not forget non-Muslim Israel and Hindu India are dying to see Iran, Turkey and Pakistan destroyed.
The Afghan people deserve better! The’ve known War for a very long time and it doesn’t seem to be receding anytime soon, unless Muslim Countries unite to destroy the Taliban because Western Countries have had enough of those so-called ‘forever wars.’
