Turkey, France, United Arab Emirates and Russia are major players fighting for dominance in the Libyan Conflict.
The Government of National Accord(GNA) based in Libya’s capital Tripoli and led by Fayez al- Sarraj, supported militarily by President Recep Erdogan of Turkey and financially by Petroleum rich Qatar led by the Al-Thani Family.
The fall of Muamar Khaddafy in 2011 led to complete chaos as dozens of Militia groups fought for control of the Arab country main resource, OIL.
The type of government to be installed in Libya is at play here, as Erdogan and Al Thani promote political Islam influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood. Turkey has hundreds of military advisors, soldiers and several thousand mercenaries recruited from Syria and elsewhere fighting to keep the GNA in power.
Mohammed Bin Zayed rules the petroleum rich UAE with an iron fist and to say he is a dictator is an understatement. His close friends Abdul Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia are dictators also, and possess a deep hatred for Erdogan, Al Thani and the Muslim Brotherhood. They want an authoritarian in charge, that’s why financial and military support is given to Khalifa Haftar leader of the Libya National Army(LNA) based in the Eastern city of Benghazi.
Haftar has had the edge militarily for several years, empowered with precision aircrafts, armed drones along with tanks, land vehicles and ground assault weapons provided by UAE and Egypt.
Along with all that firepower are mercenaries supporting Haftar, from Russia, Chad and Sudan getting paid to kill in a foreign land. The LNA control most of Libya including the oil fields in Southwest Region called Fezzan.
France led by President Emmanuel Macron is supporting Haftar because he wants stability in the Sahel, so a strongman in office to punish the natives into submission is what Libya needs.
Since Erdogan became heavily involved militarily the tide is changing in favor of the GNA. With advanced logistics and advisors al-Sarraj is regaining land west of Tripoli all the way to Algeria. Also land southeast of Tripoli up to Tarhouna where Haftar Central Command Station is located, has been recaptured.
The number of deaths in the conflict is well into the thousands since the overthrow of Khaddafy and will double, if the Egyptian Army enters Libya. They supply the manpower while Saudi Arabia along with UAE the money.
With that in mind it won’t be long before Libya finds Peace or Total Collapse.
