African migrants need a new route to Europe

Life must be unbearable at home for African migrants to risk life and freedom traveling across the unmerciful Sahel, onward to Libya in search of better opportunities in Europe.

Countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Senegal have a lot of economic potential and are moving up the GDP ladder, but due to a lack of regional integration, logistics and infrastructure, time is not on their side.

So young men and women fed up with rampant corruption and high unemployment, beg, borrow and steal to pay smugglers big money to cross the Mediterranean sea in search of the promise land. Many wayward travelers reach their destination, but a dark side exist, as smugglers rape, torture and murder sub saharans without remorse along the trail.

Once in Libya they cant distinguish the good militias from the bad ones, so they wound up being sold to the highest bidder. And if they manage to escape the slave quarters, many drown in the sea of despair, as their bodies are never to be found.

With all the hell the migrants receive on the road in Mali, Niger and Sudan, you would think it must be better in Libya.

Think again.

Yet they keep coming in search of a better life, hoping not to return any time soon to what they left behind. Hundreds of thousands have reached the Mediterranean, never to be heard from again.

With that in mind migrants need a new route to Europe.

Instead of paying traffickers $10,000 a piece to make the trek to Libya, only to be buried once the money is gone, migrants should organize in their respective countries. They should put their money together and buy a big boat leave Dakar or Accra and make the journey to Spain, Portugal or Italy without paying smugglers a dime.

I’m talking about a used boat, nothing fancy, big enough to transport a couple hundred people at a time and hold extra barrels of petro. I’m sure you could find a few captains among the group, especially coming out of those huge seaport cities on the Atlantic Ocean.

Think about it.

Libya is nothing nice, especially if you are Black Africans.
