The Federal Communications Commission rolled back President Obama regulations prohibiting Internet Service Providers from influencing loading speeds for specific websites.
The FCC reversed ‘Net Neutrality’ guidelines put into effect in 2015 by Chairman Tom Wheeler, a Obama appointee, who said, “no one, whether government or coporate, should control free open access to the internet.”
Regulations placed on the internet under Obama Administration should remain intact, because neutrality is important here. The internet is free and fair, without the unfair competition from cable companies and service providers, charging astronomical rates in different parts of the country while manipulating loading speeds for more profits.
Net-Neutrality in layman’s term is giving the public right of way to get on an off the superhighway without roadblocks.
President Trump could care less about neutral when it comes to the internet superhighway. There must be a financial angle here, so his family and business friends will have a leg up as supply and demand will dictate pricing and loading speeds.
Obama put these rules in place to keep the internet free and fair for all of us to use, and Trump may remove these freedoms, giving more power to internet service providers.
Current FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said prior to passage of net neutrality in 2015 under Obama era, the government allowed the internet to operate free of government regulations. So what they did was repeal the regulations and let the free market system run its course.
A whole lotta people aren’t buying that line of thought, as Trump is notorius for saying one thing and doing another.
Its more of the same from Trump, ala, giving huge tax breaks to rich donors and corporations at the expense of low and middle income earners.
The same mindset existed in healthcare; less coverage for average Americans–as he tried to take away pre-existing illness and the penalty for refusing to buy insurance. But he lost on that issue, and hopefully the republicans will wake up and overturn the final tax reform vote, that only helps the rich.
