In the long run President Trump decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem will cause America lots of friends on the world stage, and our reputation of being somewhat of an honest broker is completely shattered.
The big winners today are major campaign donor Sheldon Adelson and millions of Israelis and U.S. Evangelicals who supported the President during the campaign, when he promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem, if elected.
“While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver, Trump added. “Today I am delivering.”
Adelson, who is Jewish poured several hundred million dollars to get the president elected and today his financial contribution was paid in full.
The big losers are American Diplomacy, peace between the Palestinians and Israelis and the hope for a two-state solution where East Jerusalem would be the capital of Palestine.
It appears to me that Netanyahu and his supporters never intended to share Jerusalem in the first place. In fact all of the land belongs to Israel, including the West Bank and areas currently under Palestinian control may be gone tomorrow. The Israelis are building Jewish Settlements all over the place and they have no respect for the Oslo Accords.
Self-governing and the right of return for Palestinians are all pipe dreams. Where will they return to? Gaza. Hamas may lose that area soon the way Netanyahu, Kushner and Trump are headed.
If right wing leaders are elected after Netanyahu is gone, North Sinai will become Palestine. And what is known as Palestinian Territories will become Greater Israel.
