When a true a patriot like General Colin Powell calls Donald Trump a ‘national disgrace’ according to leaked emails, it seems to me voters should be turning to Hilary in droves.
But that’s not the case. Depending on who’s doing the polling they are running about even nationwide. In fact the so-called real estate mogul is gaining traction after drilling voters about her bad health and lack of trust. And Hilary seems to have lost momentum when she said half of Trump’s supporters are a “basket of deplorables.”
Powell went on to say that he has no further comments on the email leaks concerning Trump, but he didn’t deny calling him a disgrace. He is obviously anti-Trump but it doesn’t seem to me he is overly impressed with Mrs. Clinton. Especially after she pointed out that Powell advised her to use an outside server for her emails. Which he promptly denied and said she had been using the server for more than a year.
Hilary comes across to some as cold and calculating while pretending to be a champion of the middle class and underserved, while to others she is a pawn of the wall street bankers. She does have experience in the political arena as a Senator and serving four years under Obama as Secretary of State. Lest not forget she was in and around the white house while hubby Bill served for two terms.
Her opponent is seen as self serving to many, with no political experience and a history of lawsuits and bankruptcies. But it seems that his supporters are intrigued by his lack of officeholder experience, because that means he is not beholding to the wall street money handlers or the big banks. But the truth be told the Donald is beholding to Trump Inc., and that’s the bottom line.
While she is at home recuperating from a bout with pneumonia, Obama made a very impressive campaign stomp in Philadelphia and pleaded with voters to turn out in droves and vote for the democrats. Not because of what Hilary will do if elected, but what he’s accomplished in eight years. Like $2 a gallon of gasoline(he’s taking credit) and employment is up, and more Americans have health insurance under his watch.
In that speech he seems to be telling Hilary and other democrats–if they want to win–they should play to his domestic policies. But his foreign policies are not bad. It was under his Leadership that Bin Laden was killed and Al Qaeda crippled in Afghanistan and Yemen. With U.S. support in Somalia, (drones and logistics) African Union troops are defeating alshabab, with the buildup of the Somalia National Army.
With Obama at the helm ISIL is taking a licking in Iraq and Syria with the help of our allies, including Iran and Russia. Yes they are winning with air attacks, and foot soldiers from the Kurds, Iran and Arab countries. Initially, Turkey and Saudi Arabia were hell bent on U.S. support to destroy Assad, because of Syria’s Shia connections to Iran and Hezbollah. But Obama would have no part of this sectarian divide and kept his eyes on the prize of destroying ISIL without committing American ground forces, except a small contingent of advisers.
Getting back to U.S. elections, if it come down to Hilary and Trump in November than I have no choice but to go with Hilary. Since a president is capped for two terms, he can’t run again.
But Obama deserves four more years.
